Fuengirola council has bought a private plot of land in Torreblanca which contains important Roman ruins dating from the first century BC.
The ruins alongside the N-340 were once a bathhouse and were declared of special historical interest in 2005 but until now have lain abandoned as the council tried to persuade the owners to sell.
The town hall has now started a clean up and assessment of the ruins' condition.
