Mijas town hall has designated a plot of land for the construction of a long-awaited residence for the elderly in Las Lagunas. This step in turn gives the green light to the drawing up of the plans and the tender process. The mayor, Juan Carlos Maldonado, said that this future social facility was “much needed by the elderly in our town”.
He added that thanks to an agreement with the Junta de Analucía the residence's rates would be “affordable” and that the construction work would be able to start at the end of 2018.
The site reserved for the new care home is behind La Vega secondary school in Las Lagunas. According to initial plans the residence will have 200 places.
