Dance championship cancelled amid plagiarism lawsuit

The Campeonato de Baile dance competition will not take place this year after Torremolinos town hall announced that it was improper.

The competition was created in 1989 and the final usually takes place in Torremolinos. This news come after entrepreneur and politician, Javier Checa accused Torremolinos town hall of plagiarism.

Last year the council created the Muestra de Baile MueBT dance competition, which is similar to the Baile Retro created by Checa. Nevertheless, the councillor for culture, Aída Blanes, insists that the cancellation has nothing to do with the lawsuit.
