The palatial home of a convicted arms dealer has been seized on the orders of a New York judge.
Monzer Al-Kassar used to live in the villa near Marbella, which was not directly in his name, until 2007 when he was arrested in Spain on a US police warrant over an attempt to sell arms to Colombian rebels.
He was extradited and sentenced to 30 years in 2009. So prolific was Al-Kassar on the local high-society social circuit that he went by the nickname The Prince of Marbella, however the carefree facade hid a web of criminal links that had seen him banned from several countries.
