Mayor's Awards presented to six people and one charity

Lance Corporal Conway has been given the Mayor's Silver Award in recognition of his actions while deployed in Bahrain

Seven local men and women were presented with a Mayor's Award by the mayor of Gibraltar, Kaiane Aldorino Lopez, at a special ceremony at City Hall on Wednesday.

Lance Corporal Conway has been given the Mayor's Silver Award in recognition of his actions while deployed in Bahrain, although he was unable to receive it in person as he is currently away on active service.

The other Silver Award was presented to Krisanne Lia for saving a neighbour's life by rendering first aid assistance when he had a heart attack, just two weeks after completing a first aid course.

The other five recipients were presented with Community Awards: John Diaz received one in recognition of his voluntary work with the Prostate Cancer Support Group; Joseph Palmero for his charity work; Kishin Alwani in recognition of support for the community through the Alwani Trust and Foundation; Emily Adamberry Olivero MBE for her voluntary work with Clubhouse Gibraltar; and the Gibraltar Disability Society for its work in promoting the interests of disabled people.
