  • The carnival, which last year attracted over 4,000 people, will present some of the gaudiest costumes imaginable

The fourth edition of the Gala Drag Queen del Carnival Gay will be held in Torremolinos on Saturday 15 February from 8pm. This colourful event is organised by the ACOGAT, gay business owners' association of Torremolinos, and the cultural department of the town hall.

The judges will be looking for originality, imagination and personality among the colourful wigs, shocking make-up and dazzling designs. Hours will have been spent sticking sequins and feathers to ostentatious costumes

Last year's event at the Príncipe de Asturias auditorium, which attracted over 4,000 people, presented fast-fire, brazen humour and some of the gaudiest costumes imaginable, and this year promises to be just as spectacular.

The gala will include some of the top LGBT artistes, including outrageous boy band Butchqueens; and Dácil Suárez, the flamboyant singer who opened the Gala Drag Carnival in Las Palmas in 2019.

The event will be held in the Principe de Asturias auditorium at 8.30pm and it promises to be a festival that will contain all of the outrageousness associated with world of drag.

The winner, along with those in second and third place, will go on to participate in this year's edition of Torremolinos Pride.
