The first act of the evening will be a ceremonial ribbon cutting which will take place at the European Union roundabout. A charity bar will be set up and will be managed by the Hermandad de Nuestra Señora del Carmen Coronada-Patrona de Estepona religious brotherhood. And there will be musical performances by Raya Real and Longplay.
This new facility puts the icing on the cake of the town’s transformation, under way for the last twelve years, and aims to become an icon for Estepona. The socio-cultural centre will house a large library and study spaces, music conservatory, auditorium for cultural events, exhibition hall and have a lookout platform for the enjoyment of visitors and residents. The Mirador has been chosen to house fifty works from the Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection.
Together with the Mirador del Carmen, the remodelled Avenida España, between Avenida Juan Carlos I and Calle Delfín and its extension to the viewpoint, will also be opened to the public.
The Mirador del Carmen tower can be visited free of charge from Saturday 1 April from 9am to 9pm.
