The Costa del Rock Fest returns to Torremolinos for the second time next month and organisers claim they are pulling out the stops to make this year's festival the best so far.
The sixth edition of the rock festival, which has been held at different location along the coast, was born in 2014 with the aim of promoting the rock scene in Malaga.
This year's instalment will present Torremolinos rockers, Estrella Negra, who recently recorded a disc to celebrate 30 years of performing together; and the up and coming heavy metal band from Marbella, Steel Demon. Other groups include Abxenta, a thrash metal band formed in Malaga in 2005; and Inxight, a melodic metal group who have achieved considerable attention on the Spanish rock scene.
The headlining band of the festival, which will be held in the Principe de Asturias Auditorium on Saturday 8 January 2022, is Def Con Dos, one of the most outstanding groups of Spanish punk, metal and rap.
The band was formed in 1990 and were a pioneer in Spanish hip hop: today, they are a respected benchmark in the field of independent music.
The band began to make their mark after the 1995 album Alzheimer, which thrust them into the limelight. Since then, they have embarked on tours of the USA, Mexico, Argentina, Italy, Belgium France and the UK.
The band's last LP, Spain is an Idiot, placed them at the forefront of social protest with great critical and public success.
The festival starts at 7.30pm and tickets, which went on sale this week, cost 12 euros. www.wegow.com.
