Malaga's María Torres continued to showcase her talents over the weekend, bagging a silver medal in the second Karate1 Premier League tournament of the year, held this time in Antalya (Turkey).

The local karateka missed out on securing back-to-back victories in this top-tier global circuit, with the gold medal going to Johanna Kneer, the reigning continental champion in her category, who clinched a commanding 11-3 victory, an unusual margin for a major final.

Torres nonetheless found contentment with silver, admitting: "I'm happy and proud to reach a final of an international tournament again. Let's keep working for what's to come."

Silver in Turkey marked her fifth consecutive international championship (eighth overall) where she has clinched a medal, undoubtedly the highlight of her illustrious career.

She secured bronze at the Premier League in Fukuoka (June 2023), silver in Dublin (September 2023), silver at the World Championships in Hungary (October 2023), both individually and as part of a team, and gold at the Premier League in Paris (January 2024).
