International inline hockey back in Fuengirola

Local inline hockey team, the Fuengirola Lions, will this weekend host the eighth international inline hockey tournament, with a total of ten participating
Lions hoping for yet another successful season
- Thanks to new installations completed by the town hall during the summer break, the Fuengirola Lions have now acquired more training times. The juniors now train on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 to 8pm while the adults train on the same day from 8 to 10pm.
- This year the Lions will have junior teams in three different age groups (benjamín, alevín and infantil) while in the Liga Andaluza, Lions and Barona will compete separately but will join forces in the Liga Sur.
- Last season Fuengirola Lions won both the Liga Sur and the Liga Andaluza, with their second team coming runner-up in the latter. They were also champions in three junior categories.
teams. Because of growing interest from abroad, local sides Málaga, Marbella and Sevilla are unable to compete this time.
In addition to the two sides which make up Fuengirola Lions, Lions and Barona, the participating teams come from Finland (two), Belgium (one), the United Kingdom (one) and further afield in Spain: Murcia Rollers, Sancti Petri, Buhos and Águilas.
Besides the great weather and atmosphere, a new attraction for the teams will be the ice hockey boards from Finland installed during the summer break to increase safety for both players and spectators.
Whats more, mayor of Fuengirola, Ana Mula, will be in attendance to open the new rink, at the Santa Fe sports centre in Los Boliches alongside representatives from the Andalusian Federation and Liga Sur.
The tournament gets under way this Saturday at 9am and will run until 9.30pm. Sundays matchday will be slightly shorter from 11am, with the final starting at 6pm.
Cheerleaders will provide extra entertainment. Entry to the tournament is free.
