Canal Sur Television has chosen Ronda as the location to broadcast the chimes that will ring in the New Year, and an official announcement is expected to confirm it this Thursday at a concert in the town’s historic bullring.
The huge promotion opportunity for the mountain town, already a popular draw for tourists who make the one-hour trip inland from the Costa del Sol, was revealed by Radio Coca-Cadena Ser and confirmed by several different sources.
At the moment, the hosts who will draw 2020 to an end is not yet known.
Back in 2001, Ronda was also selected by Telecinco to broadcast its bells. On that occasion the programme was fronted by actress Maribel Casany and the presenter Fernando Acaso in the central Plaza de España, next to the Puente Nuevo (New Bridge), with the Parador in the background.
