Two men, with numerous previous convictions, have been arrested by National Police officers as being allegedly responsible for of a series of robberies in recent months inside public car parks in Jerez de la Frontera, Cadiz.

Among the alleged crimes, the most significant in terms of the value of the stolen goods took place in December 2022 when a group of women, from Marbella, left their vehicle parked in the city. They lost suitcases and personal belongings worth 4,500 euros and jewellery worth 75,900 euros.

In total, the two Spanish men are charged with seven crimes of theft with force committed against vehicles parked by residents or tourists inside public car parks, most of them located in Jérez city centre.

The detainees entered the underground car parks dressed as if they were just another customer. They prowled around the different floors and, according to the police, they gained access to the cars, sometimes by forcing the lock cylinders and other times by breaking the windows when they saw valuables inside and there was no one in the area.

The crimes were committed between the end of December 2022 and the end of February 2023. Finally, the alleged criminals were identified and arrested. Investigators were able to recover a large majority of the jewellery that had been sold in gold-buying businesses.
