Marbella’s mayor Ángeles Muñoz received the Lithuanian ambassador to Spain, Lyra Puišytė-Bostroem at the town hall last Friday 20 October in a bid to strengthen commercial and cultural ties between the two countries.

Muñoz, who also welcomed the country’s honorary consul in Malaga, Enrique Sánchez, highlighted the direct flights between Lithuania and Malaga, which she said, “facilitates the relationship between the two countries”.

Muñoz also stressed that the meeting has served to highlight Marbella’s attractions so that "the citizens of the country who decide to have a second home will choose us".

The ambassador highlighted the importance of the new consulate, which will offer services from Marbella to the provinces of Malaga, Granada, Almería and Jaén. "We are grateful for the warm welcome of the and we also encourage Andalusians to get to know our country," said Puišytė-Bostroem.

Sánchez said, "I hope to represent the Lithuanians in the area as well as possible" and added in reference to Marbella, "There is no better place to visit and do business.”
