Holy Week in Malaga will once again have a royal visitor and this time it will be Queen Sofia. SUR can confirm the royal family member will first attend the disembarkation of the Spanish Legion's troops at the port and then the emotional transfer of the Cristo de Mena on Holy Thursday (28 March).
The event will start at 10am at the Dique de Levante in the Port of Malaga, where the members of the honours company of the Tercio Don Juan de Austria III of La Legión will arrive by ship and disembark at the Levante dock in the city's port.
Queen Sofia will then go to the church of Santo Domingo, where at 12 noon the Christ of Mena will be transferred to another church on the shoulders of the Legionnaire's, one of the most eagerly awaited events of Holy Week in Malaga.
Although this is the first time that the queen has attended Holy Week in Malaga, it is not the first time for a member of the Spanish royal family. In 1996 her son, the then Prince Felipe, attended.
