Malaga Airport diverts several flights due to unidentified drone
Following the detection of the aerial object near runway 12, airport operator Aena suspended landings for about 50 minutes, which caused delays

An unidentified drone near Malaga Airport led to diverting several flights on Sunday evening.
According to Controladores Aéreos, pilots on several flights reported a drone ... near runway 12 at the airport at around 9pm. The warning from state air navigation authority Enaire was clear: "The sighting of a drone approaching Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport has forced a temporary halt to operations for safety reasons."
The procedure in such cases is to suspend operations and notify the state security forces. The Guardia Civil ruled out any security risks at Malaga Airport, resuming all operations at around 10pm.
According to Controladores Aéreos, landings were suspended for more than 50 minutes for safety reasons. The incident was classified as rate zero, meaning the airport was unavailable for departures or arrivals.
Eight flights were diverted, seven of them to Seville Airport and one to Alicante. There were also delays to other flights that were due to connect.
This is the third incident at Malaga Airport in the space of a few days, following a diverted flight on Friday and another on Saturday, both due to technical problems.
