One of the most eagerly awaited events of Holy Week in Malaga happens on Wednesdays, when the Bripac parachute brigade attempts to perform a parachute jump display.
This is also when brigade members carry the image of Santo Cristo de las Almas de los Ciegos from the church of San Juan to the brotherhood house - a short journey but one of enormous emotional and symbolic significance.
The procession starts at 11am, following the solemn mass in honour of Christ. It will wind its way through streets of the historic centre, including San Juan, Félix Sáenz Square, Nueva, Especerías, Cisneros and Santa Isabel, before reaching the brotherhood's headquarters. Along the route, hundreds of worshippers will accompany the event, which blends religious tradition with a military presence, creating one of the most recognisable scenes of Holy Wednesday in Malaga.
The parachute jump attempt is going to take place at the La Caleta beach, as per tradition, at 2pm, provided the wind allows for a safe performance. There has not been a successful jump attempt since 2019 due to weather conditions.
