Cártama town hall has begun the construction of a new walkway along the Carretera de Coín (A-7057) to improve access to the Mirador del Valle residential area.

The town’s mayor, Jorge Gallardo, explained that the walkway, which will be financed with funds from the council’s Mobility Plan, has been demanded by the residents to improve road safety in the area.

Gallardo, along with the councillor for Urbanism, Miguel García, and the councillor for Roads and Works, Juan Francisco Lumbreras, visited the area on Wednesday to see the progress of the work.

“A new pedestrian connection route will be provided for this residential development so that its residents will have easier access, while road safety in this area will also be improved,” the mayor said.

The first stage of the work is the construction of a water channel, since part of the two-metre-wide pedestrian path, which will connect Calle Dámaso Ruano and Calle Asturias, will pass over the La Fontanilla stream.

The project, which has a budget of 45,000 euros, also involves relocating the parking spaces in the area.
