Wanted drug trafficker detained in Benalmádena under European arrest warrant

The 48-year-old man is wanted in his home country for trafficking drugs from Spain

National Police officers have arrested a 48-year-old Norwegian man in Benalmádena on the Costa del Sol, who is wanted in his home country in relation to charges of trafficking drugs from Spain.

A European arrest and surrender order was issued by authorities in Norway on 21 October and the individual was detained in the Costa del Sol town on 2 November.

The man was captured in Benalmádena when police officers carried out some checks and found that an arrest warrant was in force against his name, issued by the District Court of Nord-Troms og Senja (Norway).

According to the court order, the wanted man is being sought in connection with trafficking drugs from Spain to Norway charges.

The arrested man now faces deportation and his case has been passed to the National Court in Madrid.
