Torremolinos town hall has installed a series of multilingual, interactive digital display totems in different locations of the resort that will offer tourist information and guides to the town's hotspots and monuments.

The new boards, which aim to promote the town's advances in modernity, digitalisation and accessibility as an Intelligent Tourist Destination, offer a navigation menu in Spanish, English, French and German.

The town hall claims that the new technology, which has a direct link to the tourism website, will offer "outstanding and useful content" to visitors by incorporating promotional images of the municipality via QR codes that link to an audio guide and interactive route map.

The installations, which were proposed and promoted by the Tourism delegation of Torremolinos and financed by the Junta de Andalucía, will also make the information more accessible with pictograms for people with hearing impairments.

The scheme was launched last week by the Mayor of Torremolinos, José Ortiz, and the councillor for Tourism, Aida Blanes.

The informative boards are located in the Parque La Bateria, Plaza del Remo, Plaza de las Comunidades Autónomas, Calle San Miguel, Plaza Costa del Sol and in Plaza Blas Infante. In addition, other totems have been installed in the Casa de la Navajas, the Pimentel tower, the Picasso Cultural Centre and in the Molino de Inca botanical gardens.

Website improved with new languages

The town hall also announced that its tourism website, previously in Spanish and English, now includes content in French and German. The website also includes new sign language programmes such as a virtual tour with five interactive routes.

"All this is part of the strategy that demonstrates Torremolinos is increasingly attractive and accessible. We are talking about an ambitious package of new elements and services that will help the town on the path of quality, modernity and tourism excellence," the mayor said.
