Benalmádena centenarian invited to town hall to celebrate milestone birthday
Resident Carmen del Pino Barroso was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a birthday cake to mark her 100th birthday
Benalmádena paid a special tribute to Carmen del Pino Barroso on Thursday, a resident of the town who celebrated her 100th birthday last weekend.
Carmen was received at the town hall by mayor Juan Antonio Lara, together with the councillor for Senior Citizens, María Luisa Robles, where she was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a birthday cake to mark the milestone occasion.
Although born in Ronda, Carmen moved to Arroyo de la Miel at the age of 80, and has since fallen in love with the town, where she has become a popular character among the local community.
The mayor said, “It is a pleasure and an honour to receive Carmen and celebrate her 100th birthday with her family and friends. She has been living in the municipality for 20 years, and she has come to love every corner of it. Her love for Benalmádena fills us with pride and we wish her to continue fulfilling many more years in this town that unites us.”
Carmen was accompanied to the celebration by her daughter, Mari Carmen, who said, “We did not expect this pleasant surprise, and the important thing is that my mother has had a great time, which gives us great satisfaction.”
