Alcohol and driving have once again proved to be a dangerous mix that resulted in a spectacular traffic smash in Vélez-Málaga on Thursday evening (18 November).
The 82-year-old driver of a SUV vehicle was slightly injured after he crashed into one of the roundabouts at around 7.10pm, leaving his seriously-damaged vehicle wedged on top of the traffic control feature.
After taking a breathalyser test, police officers verified that he gave a positive result of 0.49 milligrams per litre of exhaled air, almost double the maximum rate allowed for drivers, of 0.25.
Apart from the driver, there were no others injured in the accident. A recovery vehicle was required to remove the car from the scene of the accident.
