Mould forces the temporary closure of Nerja's El Salvador church
The services have had to be moved for interior cleaning and painting work to take place, at least until 26 November, to the Casa Hermandad del Nazareno y la Esperanza
Mould and fungal growth on the walls of Nerja's main church, El Salvador, located next to the Balcón de Europa, has forced its closure for at least three weeks, during which time work will be carried out to clean and paint the interior of the building.
The Casa Hermandad de la Cofradía de Nuestro Padre Jesús Nazareno y María Santísima de la Esperanza, located in Calle Puente Viejo in the town centre, will temporarily host the services.
The Casa Hermandad posted on its social media sites how happy they were to be hosting the services in their building.
The brotherhood, which will celebrate its 230th anniversary next year, has stressed that the Casa Hermandad, inaugurated a decade ago, "is open, as always to the needs of the people of Nerja and the brothers of the brotherhood as well as the residents of Nerja and visitors are welcome to attend."
For the brotherhood, last Tuesday's first mass "was a historic moment," they said.
