Boy, 12, dies in Coín after being hit in the chest by bullet from an airgun

A 12-year-old boy died on Wednesday of Easter Week in the centre of Coín, after being shot with an airgun. According to sources, two young boys were playing with an air gun when it went off and a bullet is said to have hit the older of the two boys in the chest. An ambulance was called to the house, and paramedics spent 40 minutes trying to revive the child without success.

The family of the victim were said to be spending a few days on holiday in the area. Police are investigating if the weapon was fired by the dead child or by a third person. They have detained the owner of the gun in connection with negligent homicide. He was later released after making a statement.
