Many people roll their own cigarettes because they mistakenly believe that loose tobacco is healthier than manufactured cigarettes, because it contains fewer additives.

That may be the case, but smoking loose tobacco also accumulates more nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide, according to Dr Salvador de Oña.

Rolling your own is actually even more dangerous for the health than smoking a normal cigarette, he says.

Under equal conditions, loose tobacco is just as bad or even worse. There is no tobacco whatsoever which is good for the health. People should realise that they just shouldnt smoke at all, he insists.
