The Gƶtheborg of Sweden, the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship will be visiting Gibraltar for the first time between 6 and 9 April, as the second stop on its 2023 European tour.

The Gƶtheborg of Sweden will be moored at Mid Harbour Marina and will be open to the public during its visit. There is also an opportunity to join the ship as a deckhand on the tour.

The ship is a unique replica of an 18th century Swedish East India Company merchant ship that sank off Gothenburg in 1745. It took ten years to build and was launched in 2003.

Giraltar's Minister of Tourism, Vijay Daryanani, said he is delighted that the magnificent ship will be stopping over before heading north and Kristoffer Bennis, Expedition Director, said that, having passed Gibraltar twice before, the crew are excited about being able to make an official stopover in such an iconic place.
