  • Yodo Morao And All That by Clive Beltran describes Gibraltarian customs, practices and sayings, many no longer in use

Tuesday this week saw the launch of a new book by local author Clive Beltran, at the John Mackintosh Hall.

The book, called Yodo Morao And All That, describes Gibraltarian customs, practices and sayings, many no longer in use, and some long forgotten, and it is a nostalgic, witty, engaging and above all enjoyable read.

The author writes anecdotally based on his childhood and early youth, reminiscing about Gibraltar from his perspective as part of the baby boomer generation.

He has created a personal record of Gibraltarians' social and cultural heritage, recalling a variety of subjects, in English and Spanish, such as: matinee shows; marrying and moving in with parents; camping at the beach and calling the family doctor.

Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Friends of Calpe House charity. It will be available for sale outside the Cathedral of St Mary the Crowned on Saturday 10 July from 10am to 2pm, and is priced at £20.
