Malaga are still interested in signing more players before the end of the summer transfer market, holding meetings with potential sponsors that could see the club receive a cash boos of up to 1.5 million euros.
Though sporting director Manolo Gaspar and his team are working on the signature of Bela or another winger that they say will bring an end to their summer spending, the club will not back down from bringing in more players before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
But to continue adding players to the Blue and Whites' squad, the club must first increase the wage limit from the current 7.5 million euros. Some 1.5 million is needed to top off the 1.8-million-euro boost received from Malaga city hall to reach the 3-million-euro summer increase.
That extra cash injection would allow Malaga to sign two or three players. The coaches are looking to add an attacking midfielder, with Malaga local José Ángel Pozo favoured by management; as well as a left-back and a right-back, as the team only has three at the moment in Juanfran, Javi Jiménez and Víctor Olmo.
Club administrator, José María Muñoz, also asked Malaga fans to play their part in raising funds for the club. "We have to get those three million euros however we can. I'm also asking for the support of season ticket holders. We're at 14,000 right now, but if we were 23,000 we would have two or three more players in the squad," he said.
