The event was compered by John Sharples and included a Mr and Mrs competition, quiz and a raffleLa Cala de Mijas Lions Club raised more than 1,500 euros for children’s cancer awareness during a charity afternoon held at Bridges Bar in Mijas last weekend.
The event, which was organised by Sandra Tavendale, and compered by John Sharples, included a Mr and Mrs competition, which was won by Heather and Terry Stone of Miraflores Bowls Club.
The guests enjoyed an assortment of homemade food, along with competitions, quizzes and entertainment. There was also a charity raffle with prizes supplied by local businesses and individuals.
A spokesperson for the Lions, Anne Bowles, said that all funds raised at the event will be used for a memory day for local children suffering from cancer, and for two charities that support the families of children with cancer.
“We would like to thank the owners of Bridges Bar for allowing us to hold the event there, and also John Sharples for hosting it. We also need to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along and supported the Lions with this extremely worthwhile cause,” Bowles said.
