Seven people were arrested in Marbella after the criminal network introduced the fake notes by means of the "drip" system, in gambling and clothes shops in Malaga province

National Police officers have dismantled a network allegedly responsible for the distribution of high-quality counterfeit banknotes with a face value of 500 euros, the force said in a statement.

Seven people were arrested in Marbella for introducing the banknotes by means of the "drip" system, mainly in betting and clothes shops in Malaga province. During the operation, the officers seized 107 counterfeit 500 euro banknotes.

After the necessary tests, officers found that the counterfeit notes were of high quality, according to the European Central Bank's cataloguing system, and they came from Bulgaria.

Officers identified the alleged criminals and linked them to some 25 acts of "dripping", in some cases making multiple clothing purchases.
