It's called Rail Live! and it is the main trade fair for the European railway sector. This year’s edition is being held in Madrid, but next year it will be heading to Malaga, according to the announcement made by the city’s mayor, Francisco de la Torre, and the Junta de AndalucĆa’s Minister of Public Works, MarifrĆ”n Carazo, during a visit to the event this Wednesday (1 December).

The 2022 event in Malaga will coincide with the arrival of the Metro to the city centre and the opening of the two new stations - Guadalmedina, next to El Corte InglƩs, and Atarazanas, in the Alameda.

Metro de MƔlaga will host Rail Live! - which brings together representatives of railway operators, construction companies and consultancies that develop railway transport systems worldwide - at the Palacio de Ferias.

The Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, has said that Rail Live! 2022 will be an opportunity for the city ā€œwhich is committed to sustainability and innovation in transportā€ to project itself to an international audience.

The Andalusian Minister of Public Works, MarifrƔn Carazo, also speaking in Madrid, added that the Junta had accelerated the construction works of the Renfe-Guadalmedina and Guadalmedina-Atarazanas sections, which will take the metro from the El Perchel intermodal station to the Alameda.

"Investment in the work tripled with the arrival of the new regional government and that has meant that the ā€˜wound’ in the city centre will be closed after many years of delay," she said.
