Firefighters have found the burned body of a person while putting out the flames of a van fire on a public road in Malaga. The blaze was reported at around 11.15 pm on Saturday, 6 November on Calle Ferrocarril del Puerto, in Malaga’s El Bulto neighbourhood.

After members of the city’s fire brigade had doused the flames, they discovered the body of a man, lying on a mattress, in the back of the van. Residents of the local area say that the vehicle was abandoned, and homeless people would sleep in it.

National Police officers have opened an investigation and are working to identify the man. The victim’s body was sent for post-mortem tests to determine if there were any previous injuries and confirm the cause of death.

While police officers were conducting a visual inspection of the scene, a second fire was reported nearby, in a rubbish container. The police are now investigating whether the two incidents are related.
