Christmas has come to Malaga city with the switching on of the city's festive lights. More than 500 streets have been lit up this year with music shows and video projections taking place throughout the season until the arrival of the Three Wise Men on 5 January.
In the main central shopping street Calle Larios, a ‘Christmas forest’, a huge structure made up of 22 arches and thousands of strings of lights, has been set up and it burst into life when journalist María Casado flicked the switch.
The musical shows will take place between 7pm and 10pm every evening, although the exact times have not been reported to try and avoid crowds in the street.
On Saturday evening the official opening of the new light and sound show at the city's La Concepción botanical garden was so popular with visitors eager to see it that it brought traffic in the area to a standstill.
