The Jehovah's Witness communities in Marbella and Estepona are awaiting the handover of two pieces of land from the local councils in those two resorts in order to build their planned Kingdom Halls. Each one would be 300 square metres and cost around 350,000 euros, which is mostly being raised through donations.

Both Marbella and Estepona are working on plans to give over land to the group for religious use. Last year Marbella opposition groups protested the move to use public land.

Malaga province is home to the largest concentration of Jehovah's Witnesses in Spain and worshippers highlight the tolerance in the area as a possible reason.
