A third Phoenician necropolis has been discovered in Almuñécar, with the remains of a man and woman, along with a funeral urn and ceramic amphora.

The find confirms a theory that there were Phoenician artefacts buried in the Monte Velilla area of the town, where the discovery was made.

In the summer, a group of archaeologists, headed by Iván Sánchez, as well as professors from the university of Granada's prehistory and archaeology department asked for permission to carry out the dig to confirm the theory.

The human remains, urn and amphora are currently being analysed.
