Hundreds of Dutch nationals came together in La Carihuela last week to celebrate Koningsdag, the national holiday of the Netherlands. The King's Day party, which was organised by the cultural department of Torremolinos town hall and the Voom Voom Club, was held in recognition of King Willem-Alexander's birthday.

Dutch residents and visitors, many of whom were dressed in orange wigs and wacky outfits, enjoyed a day-long street party with live entertainment supplied by several bands and Dutch DJs.

Visitors also enjoyed a street market offering Dutch handicraft products, including ceramics, cookie boards, knitted and embroidered garments and handmade wooden clogs.

There was also the chance to sample traditional Dutch cuisine and an array of artisan beers brewed in the Netherlands.

This was the third consecutive year that the festival has been held in Torremolinos and it has become a popular annual event for Dutch residents of the Costa del Sol.
