Police in the south of Spain are investigating an alleged murder-suicide incident involving two girls aged two and four, and their father, in Andalucía's Almeria province.
Guardia Civil officers were called out to a remote property between Alboloduy and Gérgal at about 10.40pm on Sunday 17 March after three bodies were found in a farmhouse. Initial investigations suggest the father poisoned his daughters, before ending his own life.
Sources close to the investigation said the man was in the process of separating from his wife, who was registered in Spain's VioGén system for people at risk of domestic violence. The provincial sub-delegate of the national government José María Martín this Monday morning expressed his "deep sadness" at the tragedy. The case remains under investigation.
