Cervezas San Miguel S.L.U., one of the firms that belong to the Mahou San Miguel beer group, has decided to move its registered headquarters from Barcelona to Malaga, where it has had a brewery since 1966.

The decision has been explained by the firm's "commitment to guarantee maximum legal security for the company and its professionals", said sources on Monday.

San Miguel is the latest firm to announce its departure from Catalonia due to the uncertainty created by the regional government's drive towards a unilateral declaration of independence.

The first was Banco Sabadell on Thursday last week, which was followed by Caixabank, Gas Natural and several others.
