á. f. / j. c.

Police in Malaga have issued a warning having seen a spike in cases of fraudulent IT technicians contacting victims over the phone.

At first, they say that they are from a reputable international company, offering to fix problems and install antivirus software.

Once the victim gives permission for remote access and makes a payment, the criminals then access passwords and other sensitive data.

Police recommend not to trust any call of this nature. If, however, you fall victim to such a scam, they say you should contact your bank and cancel all payments and immediately uninstall any new programs on your computer.
