Fuengirola council has opened the town's sixth dog park, located in the Parque del Sol, completed with a budget of 16,000 euros.

The space is around 750 square metres and complements the other spaces for pets in Los Pacos, Miramar, Torreblanca, Calle Feria de Abril and Calle Lanzarote.

Councillor for Urban Ecology Antonio Carrasco visited the new dog park together with the councillor responsible for the San Cayetano district, Javier Hidalgo, where he stressed that Fuengirola is a pioneer in integrating pets into daily life and said that the town once again would be competing for the Travelguau awards as the best destination for travelling with dogs.

Carrasco added that it was important that the town had these spaces because "it is a major factor for tourists who are also animal lovers".
