The advice for those experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus (coughing, fever and difficulties breathing) remains the same: maintain high hygiene standards, don't go to your local health centre or hospital and self-isolate at home to avoid spreading the virus.

The next step is to make contact with the regional Health ministry's Salud Responde unit (which offers assistance in various languages).

The Junta announced on Wednesday that it had launched a new free telephone number exclusively to deal with coronavirus enquiries (900 400 061). This will be operational in addition to the normal number (955 545 060).

Because of the high volume of enquiries, calls to the 112 and 061 hotlines should only be made in an emergency.
