Plans to construct a pier off Torre del Mar beach have reemerged, two years after the project was first announced. However, the town hall has had to make a number of modifications to the original design, following indications from the Junta de Andalucía's coastal department, Demarcación de Costas. "We have been working continually with 'Costas' because we want to make this project a reality," said deputy mayor and councillor for beaches, Jesús Pérez Atencia, on Monday.

According to the current design, the finished pier will measure 65.5 metres long, five metres wide and will have a 10-metre wide mirador at the end.

It will be wheelchair accessible and will be built using sustainable and water-resistant materials, according to PROAMB S.L., the consultancy firm working on the design. The Junta de Andalucía is currently evaluating the viability of the current design.
