Following years of complaints about hard water from residents in Vélez-Málaga, the town hall has invested 150,000 euros in machinery which is designed soften the town's drinking water.

Residents have long complained of damage to pipes and electrical appliances.

The town hall insists that the water has always met legal requirements.
