Artists and friends joined Carmen Peral, the wife of British artist Rowland Fade, who passed away in May, in a tribute on Monday evening at Almuñécar's Casa de la Cultura.
The event took place during the opening of Meeting Art Almuñécar, which takes place in the town every year and attracts artists from around the world. Fade last exhibited his work at the meeting in 2016.
The exhibition room at the Casa de Cultura has been named after the artist and a plaque with his name has been mounted above the door.
Councillor for Culture Olga Ruano spoke at the tribute event, as did Fade's widow and other artists who had known him and worked with him.
Peral thanked people for attending the event and for their support. She also spoke of her husband's artwork, which has been exhibited internationally.
Rowland Fade was born in Norwich, England on 10 May 1939 and first came to Spain in 1969, before making Almuñécar his permanent home in 1995. He was a well known and respected figure on the town's cultural scene.
