Gibraltar Airport to have a new connection with London City

There has been bad news and good news recently in terms of flights to and from Gibraltar.

After the excitement of the announcement that Volotea would be starting a connection between Gibraltar and Bilbao, ticket sales were suspended when it became known that the airline had not yet obtained the necessary permits and consents from the Spanish authorities. It is hoped that this route will become a reality at some time, but the government stresses that Gibraltar's main source market for tourism continues to be the UK.

So, very welcome news came with the announcement on Thursday that British Airways is to start two flights a week from London City Airport to Gibraltar, initially for the summer season. These flights will be on Mondays and Fridays, beginning 25 June, with fares starting at £43 one way.
