Individuals and politicians have been expressing their sadness at the death of 94-year-old Mariola Summerfield, who chief minister Fabian Picardo described as "a national treasure" and "one of a kind".

She belonged to the generation who experienced the evacuation of the Rock during WWII and the years when Franco closed the border and tried to bring Gibraltar to its knees.

A much-loved member of the community, she will be sadly missed.
