The new Governor of Gibraltar, Vice Admiral Sir David Steel, arrived on Wednesday 10 June to move into his official residence, The Convent, and take up his post.
He was welcomed at the airport by chief minister Fabian Picardo, the acting Governor, Nick Pyle, and Commodore Tim Henry, the British Forces Commander. He was then driven to The Convent, where he received a warm welcome from the staff.
Sir David was sworn-in on Thursday morning, but the ceremony was much more low-key than usual due to precautions and restrictions as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
