The II Festival de Jazz en Otoño will be held from Saturday 9 to Monday 11 October in the José Martín Recuerda auditorium in the Casa de la Cultura.
The festival will feature performances by Portuguese pianist Júlio Resende, the French trumpeter Raynald Colom, and the American saxophonist Jean Toussaint.
Júlio Resende is a pianist and composer, and is one of Portugal’s best known jazz musicians, with eight albums.
Raynald Colom is one of the most internationally respected jazz trumpet players. In addition to having won numerous awards, he has collaborated with great names in jazz, pop and flamenco such as Nicholas Payton, Greg Osby, Mulgrew Miller, Chano Domínguez, Chicuelo and Manu Chao, among many others.
Jean Toussaint began playing with Wallace Roney, the legendary trumpet player and from 1982 to 1986 he was part of Art Blakey and The Jazz Messengers, one of the most important groups in the history of jazz. In the Messengers he shared tours and recordings with musicians like Terence Blanchard, Lonnie Plaxico, Donald Harrison or Mulgrew Miller.
