Lovers of jazz will enjoy the tenth edition of the Malaga International Jazz Day festival, which will be held in Plaza de la Merced at the end of April.
This year's event will present some of the region's most celebrated musicians on a stage set up in front of the house where Pablo Picasso was born. These will include The Lito Blues Band, one of Malaga's most popular live bands; The Pepa Niebla Quintet, whose music reflects a New York contemporary jazz influence; and The Malaga Jazz Collective, an ensemble consisting of some of the genre's most-respected performers.
Organised by Malaga city hall, The Costa del Jazz and Cervezas Alhambra, the event has been organised to coincide with International Jazz Day (30 April), a celebration that aims to educate the public about the virtues of jazz music as an educational tool and as a platform for free expression.
The two-day event will begin on Friday 30 April and continue on Saturday 1 May from 6pm until 8pm.
Capacity will be limited to 300, although the spectators can also take advantage of the surrounding terraces of the many bars in the square.
