Cártama town hall has launched a series of autumn hiking trails under the banner of Cártama en Ruta, four routes that will pass through some of the most representative natural areas of Andalucía. Those with a passion for hiking will be able to enjoy stunning landscapes and mountainous regions, while marvelling over the spectacular fauna and flora.

The first route, on Sunday 4 October, involves a 15-kilometre hike through the Sierra de las Nieves and the municipalities of Yunquera and El Burgo. The town of Yunquera is situated approximately 36 kilometres from Ronda, while El Burgo, declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, is located in the Sierra de las Nieves natural park.

On Sunday 25 October, hikers can experience the beauty of the Cordoba mountains and the Sierras Subbéticas natural park, home to one of southern Spain's largest breeding colonies of griffon vultures.

The Quejigo Route (16 kilometres), on Sunday 22 November, will take in the town of Jubrique, located in the heart of Serranía de Ronda.

The season will conclude on Sunday 13 December with a tour of El Peñon de Algámitas in Seville (eight kilometres). The mountain's summit reaches an altitude of 1,121 metres and on one of its slopes is a huge natural park with a sprawling oak forest.

Places are limited to 30 people per tour and participants will be expected to comply with social distancing and all current health regulations.

Registration, which costs 15 euros, can be made up to the Friday before the chosen hike at Cártama town hall, or phone 951 010 872.
