  • The hospice foundation has come up with a lockdown alternative to its annual fundraising walk. Participants can sign up online, download a bib and get moving at home

The Cudeca Foundation is following suit with other charities and support groups by endeavouring to continue its fundraising events online.

The cancer charity was due to host the annual Walkathon later this month, but due to the restrictions enforced to combat the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19), the fundraising event will now take place online.

Cudeca turns its Walkathon into Walkahome

As part of its #CaringTogether campaign, Cudeca will hold the event, which this year is called Walkahome, on Saturday 9 May between 10am and 8pm.

Those who wish to take part are invited to host the fundraising initiative in their own homes and gardens by organising any form of physical activity. This can include walking around the garden or living space, skipping, dancing, or swimming, for those who have their own pool.

Participants are encouraged to post photographs and videos of their activities on social networks with the hashtag #CudecaWalkahome #Cudeca.

To coincide with the event, Cudeca will broadcast different participatory activities (including yoga, Zumba classes and live entertainment) on its YouTube channel.

The event is sponsored by Benalmádena town hall, Dorsalchip Carreras, Cadena SER Malaga, Mijas Comunicación and the Fuengirola Athletics Club.

Registration can be made through the Cudeca and Dorsalchip websites with a minimum donation of two euros. Each registration will be assigned a bib-number that can be downloaded and used on the day of the event. All participants will be entered in a free prize draw.
